We are proud to announce that CNS Technical Director Mark Edwards has passed the grueling ANSI accredited Advanced Threat Methodology exam with a fantastic 81%, and is one of the first in the UK to do so. The exam is an 8 hour practical laboratory where candidates test their offensive security skills in a simulated Internet environment. Using tools and techniques commonly used by hackers they must identify and exploit security weaknesses to gain access to and information from a virtual target. The purpose of the course and lab is not to become hackers, but to understand how hackers and cyber criminals operate in order to identify and defend aginst advanced cyber threats.
The excellent course and exam was provided by PGI Cyber Academy who have a state of the art training and testing environment in Bristol, first of its kind the world available to the commercial sector. Each candidate has their own virtual Internet environment isolated from the real world where they can safely and legally study and test cyber threats and techniques such as BotNets, cross-site scripting, enumeration and known exploits.
Mark has undertaken this course and exam in order to further strengthen the cyber security capability of Capital Network Solutions in order to increase the cyber security awareness and protection of their customers, throughout Wales and the UK.
