Cybersecurity must top the UKâs agenda says report

A report released by the Royal Society has suggested that the issue of cybersecurity must top the agenda for UK businesses and government.

“Digital systems are increasingly integrated into our lives and digital industries in the UK grew 32% faster than the rest of our economy between 2010 and 2014, but with technology developing at a spectacular pace, the security that protects us and our data is at times struggling to keep up.We need to maintain public trust in the systems we rely on. That means organisations need to invest more in cyber security, as well as demonstrate how secure they are to earn the trust of users,” said John McCanny, co-chair of The Royal Society working group that produced the report.

The Royal Society reports recognises that progress has been made in addressing the cybersecurity threat in the UK but warns that constant vigilance and improvement is needed.

How can you manage the Cyber Threat?

Get the basics right

According to the UK Government you can reduce the cyber threat by as much as 80% by implementing the basic measures in the Cyber Essentials Accreditation. With our Cyber Essentials Portal gaining the CE accreditation has never been easier.

Our cyber experts agree that by training staff and developing a cyber aware culture we can greatly reduce the threat. Educational courses such as our 1-day Cyber Security Awareness Course show you first hand how to put basic measures in place to reduce the threat.

Regular risk assessments of your organisations computer systems will ensure that you are kept aware of the latest cyber risks and able to mitigate them quickly and effectively.

Penetration testing services meanwhile will test the robustness of your systems and will expose any weaknesses allowing you to eliminate them before a hostile actor does!
